The faceless meditative figure represents the stillness and good posture of meditation.
For this sculpture, I use the victory brown wax sent from school. I used wooden skewers as the skeleton to my figure. I proceeded to create basic shapes to create a basic figure, oval for the head, circles for shoulders, triangle for pelvis area. To keep the wax malleable I use a pot with warm water and left my tea maker in 120F to keep the water warm. When starting to add wax and carve, I used the metal carving tools and the alcohol lamp. I would heat the tool in the lamp and it would slide away in the wax. I used my finger to smooth the wax.
My piece was inspired by me meditating, I took pictures of myself in different angle to have a reference. I keep in mind to have a smooth and seamless sculpture. I believe I did achieve the result I wanted. My figure did have a great form. I would in the next sculpture add more interest to the long hair.
